There is a somewhat developed setting and story though it's just enough to hold the game together (I will admit the character portraits are really well-done and look like they come from something other than a shooter). There are many stages and quite a few where you get to choose a mission. It's quite should take at least four hours to play through. Now with generator, shield, and ship the more expensive the better, but with weapons they all cost about the same, but fire in many different patterns and speeds making for a lot of experimenting in ship design. Tyrian 2000 is a direct re-release of the original action smash, Tyrian. You have many choices between various front guns, rear guns, side guns, as well as generator, shield, and of course ship choice. As it has extra episode, new ships, and new weapons.
